Ilene Castaldo

Board Certified Nurse Practitioner

Hello! I first received my Associate Degree and then Baacalaureate degree as a Registered Nurse. I enjoyed becoming the mother of 3 children during this period of time and engaged in an active family life with my husband. I practiced conventional medicine, but researched alternatives as I found in my experience my patients’ chronic illnesses worsened despite their best efforts. After ceasing to give my children allopathic medicines for the most part, my oldest daughter was treated with homeopathy which cured her of a developing asthmatic condition! Another daughter had warts fall off with homeopathic treatment! I also informally learned about herbal and nutritional medicine. After completing my studies in Homeopathy, I attended a Family Nurse Practitioner program so I could feel more legitimate using homeopathy and nutritional medicine in treating people. I graduated with honors, and fell back into the allopathic model, taking conventional positions in Cardiology, Primary and Urgent Care and becoming an Assistant Professor in Nursing at my original Registered Nursing college.

I more recently completed a course in Functional Medicine with the ADAPT (Advanced Diagnostics and Personalized Treatment) practitioner program with Chris Kresser, Licensed Acupuncturist and Functional Medicine expert, which gave me more knowledge and confidence using nutritional and herbal medicine.

My private practice has evolved to also using energy in the form of photobiomodulation, or light therapy. I am a Board of Advanced Natural Health Sciences Certified Light Therapist. I am sure I will continue to evolve my practice as I am continually engaging in classes and books about herbal, nutritional and energy, or vibrational, medicine which I see as the most promising therapies for our health.
